Perfect Pet Insurance
for your Springer Spaniel
Your Springer is part of the family, and after a day in the fields you want them seen to quickly if something’s wrong. We’re here to make your insurance choices simple, whatever your budget. Choose from a range of policies that come with vet-backed tools to support and guide you through the decisions that count. Springer Spaniel insurance can help you with the veterinary costs for these common health conditions:
Grass seed injuries
Springers love dense undergrowth, so grass seeds lodged in ears, paws and eyes are a classic summer problem that can need removal under sedation.
Glaucoma
Raised pressure inside the eye is painful and can threaten sight. Some Springer lines carry an inherited risk, so eye checks matter.
Epilepsy
Seizures can affect Springers, especially Welsh Springers, and most dogs are managed long term with daily medication.
Elbow dysplasia
Abnormal development of the elbow joint can cause lameness and arthritis in young, active dogs, sometimes needing surgery.

How much does Springer Spaniel insurance cost?
Springer Spaniel insurance usually sits in the middle of the market, it could be as low as £18 a month, though it can climb to £55 and well beyond. Working Springers in particular can see more accidents and grass seed injuries, and inherited eye and joint conditions also factor in. Our English Springer Spaniel insurance page has more on the most popular type. Age, postcode, lifestyle and cover level all move the price, and premiums usually rise as your dog gets older. These are broad market figures rather than our prices, so for the real figure, get your pet insurance quote today, it takes about 2 minutes.

FAQs
Common questions about Springer Spaniel insurance cover.
Find out more about Perfect Pet insurance policies with these frequently asked questions.

Perfect Pet dog insurance for Springer Spaniels comes in four levels: Elite lifetime cover, Vital maximum benefit, Essential time limited cover and Accident Only. All four cover vet fees for new accidental injuries, and all except Accident Only cover new illnesses too, subject to the policy terms and waiting periods, 5 days for accidents and 14 for illness. Elite lifetime cover includes up to £10,000 of vet fees per policy year for all conditions combined, and the limit refreshes each year you renew, so the ongoing things Springer Spaniels can be prone to, like epilepsy or an eye condition, can keep being treated year after year, provided they first showed signs after your cover started. Vital covers each condition up to a fixed limit with no time limit, and Essential covers each condition for up to 12 months from when it was first noticed or treatment started, whichever comes first. Every level includes complementary treatments like physiotherapy when your vet recommends them, and all except Accident Only add third party liability and free 24/7 Vet Assist calls. The usual exclusions apply with any insurer: pre-existing conditions, routine care like vaccinations, and dental illness (dental cover is for accidents only). With excesses from £90 per condition, per policy year, and for dogs aged eight or over a 15% co-payment applies on top. The policy wording has the exact limits and terms.
Springer Spaniels are happy, affectionate and tireless, whether they’re working a hedgerow or racing round the park. All that time outdoors brings knocks and grass seeds, and the breed carries a few inherited conditions too.
Whether insurance beats a savings pot is your call and depends on your own circumstances. Conditions like epilepsy can need years of medication, so plenty of owners like having cover in place, but there’s no pressure either way, it has to fit your situation.
Age and lifestyle, mostly. A working Springer may be more likely to need treatment for injuries than a family pet. Add your postcode, vet rates, the cover level you pick, and whether anything’s already on their record, that last one matters most.
Our policies cover new illnesses and injuries that first appear after your policy starts, subject to the policy terms. Timing is what counts, not the label on the condition: anything showing signs before the policy started, or during the waiting periods, is pre-existing and sits outside cover, with any insurer.
Springer Spaniels can inherit eye, joint and neurological conditions, which is why many owners start cover while their dog is young and clear. The policy wording sets out exactly what’s included, worth a read before you buy.
The 15% multi-pet discount helps if you’ve a full house, and every policy includes our Perks & Offers, with average prescription savings of 57% through Hyperdrug, useful when seizure medication or eye drops become a regular thing.
Checking ears, paws and eyes for grass seeds after every walk helps avoid painful problems, and the free 24/7 Vet Assist line lets you ask a vet nurse first, no appointment, no claim.
