Lifetime Cover
Your yearly limit for vet bills refreshes each time you renew. So ongoing or long-term conditions can stay covered, year after year.
Maximum Benefit
Each illness or injury gets a set amount to claim against, with no time limit. There’s no rush, you can keep claiming for a condition up to that amount.
Time Limited
Covers each new illness or injury for up to a year from when it starts. A simpler, lower-cost way to help with shorter-term problems.
Accident Only
Covers injuries from accidents, like a fall or a road accident, but not illnesses. A straightforward safety net for life’s bumps and scrapes.
24/7 vet advice and a
free symptom checker
Worried about your pet? Call a real vet nurse any time, day or night, or check their symptoms online in minutes. Free with your policy, and using them never counts as a claim.

How much does pet insurance cost?
Pet insurance in the UK typically costs anywhere from around £8 a month to £60 a month or more, so it’s a wide range rather than one set price.
Where your price lands depends mostly on your pet’s breed, their age, where you live in the UK and the level of cover you choose. A young, mixed-breed cat sits at the lower end, while an older pedigree dog can cost several times more to insure.
The type of pet insurance matters too. Accident only is the lower-cost option, whilst policies like lifetime pet insurance usually costs the most, because it does the most.
You can pay monthly to spread the cost, or pay for the full 12 months up front.
Every pet is different, so every price is different. Our cover is flexible and tailored to your pet, so the best way to see your price is to get a quote. It takes a couple of minutes.
More memories, less worry.
You make the memories, we’ll handle the mishaps. Get your quote in minutes and see exactly what’s covered before you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find out more about Perfect Pet insurance policies with these common questions about pet insurance cover.
Pet insurance is worth thinking about because there’s no NHS for pets, so a surprise vet bill is yours to pay. Treatment can add up to hundreds or even thousands of pounds.
A Perfect Pet policy helps with the cost of treatment, so an unexpected bill doesn’t have to get in the way of your pet’s care.
You’ll also have support whenever something’s worrying you, including our online signs and symptoms checker and free 24/7 Vet Assist calls with a real vet nurse, by phone or video, included with our Lifetime, Maximum Benefit and Time Limited policies.
With Perfect Pet Insurance, you can get up to £5,000 of vet fee cover per condition, every year, with our Lifetime Elite Extra Plus policy.
There’s no limit to the number of conditions or accidents you can claim for. Related injuries or illnesses may be grouped together and covered under the same policy limits.
And because it’s a lifetime policy, your level of cover reinstates each year when you renew, so you can keep claiming for ongoing conditions.
A pre-existing condition is any health problem your pet has had, or has received treatment, medication or advice from a vet for, before your policy start date or within the waiting period (the first 14 days for illnesses, and 5 days for accidents and injuries).
It also includes any undiagnosed injury or illness showing clinical signs or symptoms, or existing in any form, before your policy starts.
For example, if your pet was limping before your policy started and your vet later confirmed it was arthritis, we’d treat that as a pre-existing condition.
If you make a claim, you pay a £90 excess, once per condition claimed for, in each policy year. It’s one of the lowest around.
For dogs aged 8 and over, and cats aged 10 and over, a 15% co-payment applies on top. You pay the excess first, then 15% of the remaining eligible claim amount.
Your policy schedule confirms the excess and any co-payment that applies to you. Claims under third party liability cover have a £250 excess.
To get a pet insurance quote, you just need a few details about your pet – their type, breed, age and name, along with your contact details. It takes a couple of minutes.
The more accurate your answers, the more accurate your quote. Once you’ve told us about your pet, you can compare our policy types, choose your level of cover and buy online there and then.
There are four main types of dog insurance: lifetime, maximum benefit, time limited and accident only. We offer all four.
Lifetime cover protects your dog against short-term and ongoing conditions year after year, as long as you renew with no break in cover. Maximum benefit covers each condition up to a set limit with no time restriction. Time limited covers each new condition for up to 365 days. Accident only covers injuries from accidents, but not illness.
The right type depends on your dog and your budget, so it’s worth comparing what each one includes before you decide.
Lifetime pet insurance is the most comprehensive type of pet cover, protecting your pet for their whole life as long as you renew each year with no break in cover.
With lifetime cover, your pet is insured for new conditions that start after the waiting period (the first 14 days for illnesses and 5 days for accidents and injuries). Your vet fee limits are reinstated each year at renewal, provided your premiums are up to date, so ongoing conditions can stay covered.
Lifetime policies typically cost more than maximum benefit or time-limited cover. In return, long-term conditions like arthritis or diabetes can be covered year after year, for life.
It’s worth checking your policy documents so you know exactly what’s covered and what isn’t, whichever type of cover you choose.
‘Cover’ means the big decisions can be about your pet’s wellbeing, not the bill.
The type of pet insurance you need depends on your pet, your budget and how much protection you want. It’s a personal choice rather than a one-size-fits-all answer.
If you want cover for conditions that could last a lifetime, a lifetime policy reinstates its limits each year when you renew. Time limited or accident only cover typically costs less, though it covers less too.
When you get a quote, we’ll ask about your pet and show you the policy types available for them, so you can compare your options and decide what’s right for you.
You can make a claim through our make a claim page, and we’ll guide you through each step. Whatever the illness or injury, just tell us what’s happened.
Our claims team, which includes experienced vet nurses, handles it from there. Where possible, we can settle eligible vet bills with your vet directly, so you’re not left finding the money first.
You focus on your pet, and we’ll take care of the rest.
